The night pulses with the sounds of the city, a living hum that reverberates against the glass flanks of buildings. Flickering neon and sputtering streetlights color the darkness, painting out the stars. The beasts stir, flesh and metal, large, honking automobiles to small, scurrying rats. And humans. All awake, aroused, and at large.

They say Las Vegas is the city of sin. But the man-made oasis is shallow, transgressions going only skin deep. Sex, theft, murder. There is no emotion in these sorry crimes, no passion in the clinical movements of rape, the sterile cuts of the knife into innocent tissue. The real sentiments lie buried in these paved streets, festering away for centuries.

The city that never sleeps. Illuminated by blood-red lights, shadowed by rotting dreams. The lives of its parasites played out on street corners, in the bowels of the earth. A stage, built with living wood, Pinocchio wood, just waiting, waiting to be brought into being. Electric love flows through its veins, its wires. The high-end lawyers, the slaves, the bodies in the dumpsters, the starving artists, the whores, the lost children. They live in this city. They are this city.
